Eat Lights; Become Lights - Klustered pt1 and pt2

Despite hailing from London, ELBL motor along plowing a distinctively Germanic groove. Krautrock rhythms, waves of psychedelic guitars and pulses of passing traveling synths speed alongside steadily jamming bass lines.

This two track CD is an upbeat fusion of Spaceman 3 - esque guitars, Kraftwerk's keyboards and a rigid rhythm section. Add a more sprightly Joy Division beating the heads of Section 25 and you have almost reached your destination.

ELBL are a very danceable band. I actually couldn't keep my foot--ok feet-- still whilst listening. The thought of hearing this band live is a mouth watering prospect; I'm trying not to dribble on the keyboard now.

This is one of those rare releases in which the more you hear it, the more you discover in the mix (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?). The depth of sound and production is rich, warm and bright but at times has an awe inspiring sonic harshness; at the end of the first track the sound of  a rampaging wall of feedback explodes and smashes the song into submission brick by brick.

An upbeat slice of post Krautrock that shows that ELBL have an expertly tight grasp on song writing and structure.
Seriously, don't let this release slip through your fingers - One to clutch, cling to and cherish.

7/10
